Every week in Country Music #CMchat’s #DigitalDuel we will be featuring songs for you to vote on. The songs might be related, might be different covers, or have no relation at all. Once they’re posted, it’s up to you – the fans – to spread the word and hash it out to win the #DigitalDuel. Simple enough?
Here’s your new challenge:
‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ Battle
A few weeks ago, we featured a ‘New Artist of the Year’ battle prepping for the CMA Awards. Our pick for winner was Brandy Clark, but Brett Eldredge ended up taking home the trophy. This week, we allow you to try to redeem yourselves. There are 5 artists up for the American Country Countdown Awards “Breakthrough Artist of the Year.” Four of the artists were also nominated for the CMA title, only replacing Brandy with Tyler Farr in this race. Scroll down to vote in our battle in addition to learning how to vote for your favorite breakthrough artist for the award show.
Brett Eldredge “Mean To Me” – One of country’s biggest heartthrobs, Brett Eldredge took full advantage of his sex appeal when releasing the “Mean To Me” video prior to awards voting. He’s been unstoppable at country radio lately with “Don’t Ya” and “Beat of the Music” reaching the top spot at radio. Here’s the steamy video for “Mean To Me.” Don’t forget to vote at the bottom of this article.
Cole Swindell “Ain’t Worth The Whiskey” – Cole Swindell has made his way from merch man on Luke Bryan’s tour all the way up to a chart topper. His first two singles have gone to #1 on the charts and his latest single, “Ain’t Worth The Whiskey,” is on it’s way as well. Do you think Cole deserves ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year’? Vote below.
Kip Moore “Dirt Road” – With his first #1 back in 2011, it’s hard for me to put Kip Moore among the ‘Breakthrough’ nominees. He’s currently releasing singles off of his sophomore album and headlining a tour. He has one of the strongest fan bases among the nominees, so it won’t surprise me if they pull through for the win. If you think Kip deserves the title, vote below.
Thomas Rhett “Make Me Wanna” – The final nominee is yet another heartthrob in country music – Thomas Rhett. Unfortunately for the fans, this one is happily married. His debut CD flew off of the shelves with almost 200,000 copies sold. The disc has had two #1s and “Make Me Wanna” is working it’s way up the charts. Check out his new music video and be sure to vote below if you feel he deserves the title ‘Breakthrough Artist.’
Tyler Farr “A Guy Walks Into A Bar” – Finishing off his debut release with chart topping hits “Redneck Crazy” and “Whiskey In The Water,” Tyler Farr recently released a new track off of his upcoming album. “A Guy Walks Into A Bar” features Tyler’s signature voice with a broken heart. His fans have proven to be ‘crazy’ for him, but will it be enough to be his first award show win? We’ll find out in just a few weeks.
In addition to voting in our battle, don’t forget to vote for your favorite artists on Twitter. Alls you need to do is include the artist’s twitter handle, #ACCAs, and “Breakthrough Artist” in a tweet to give them a vote. Who will be crowned the winner in this battle? Vote for your pick in this week’s #DigitalDuel and don’t forget to tune in to FOX on December 15th to see who reigns supreme on the American Country Countdown Awards.
