ACM New Artist of the Year Stirs Up Excitement With a Side of Controversy

Drumroll please…….The final three nominees for ACM New Artist of the Year have been officially determined from online fan voting polls. Kip Moore, Justin Moore, and Brett Eldredge will move to the final round of voting which begins on March 24, 2014. The ACM awards are determined entirely by fans so support your new artist pick by voting at www.VoteACM.com. The winner will be announced live at the 49th Annual ACM Awards in Las Vegas on April 6, 2014.

Kip Moore may just posses the most unique sound in this generation of country music. His voice has a rustic quality and he sings with such intensity you can’t help but be drawn in. His first studio album, Up All Night, put him square in the middle of the map. Up All Night was the best selling debut album of any solo artist in all of 2012 or 2013 with three #1 hits. He earned respect from industry critics and an incredibly engaging fan base. There is something special about a guy who comes to Nashville with relatively low expectations, immerses himself into every songwriting round he could find until he finally joined in, meets the right people, most notably Brett James who produced his album, and slowly watched dreams unfold.

Justin Moore’s nomination has stirred up quite a bit of controversy. (Cliff notes...ACM rules state if you have sold more than 500,000 copies of any previously released album you are not elgible for ACM New Artist of the Year. The board argued that Justin was new to mainstream country and the rules can be amended at any time. Addendums such as this are written into many contracts. The issue here is that the rules have not yet been amended.) I digress…. Justin was Billboards Top New Country Artist of 2009 and recognized as having the best debut album the same year by the New York Times. He has had millions of downloads, multiple #1 hits….talent and recognition is certainly not in question.

Its hard to believe that Brett Eldredge just released his debut album in August of last year. He became a household name when “Don’t Ya” shot quickly to the top of the charts. Brett takes on music the way he takes on life…with a distinctive purpose and unsurmountable passion. There is no doubt we are just seeing the beginning of what will be a long music career for this rising artist.
