Singing competitions have given way to the careers of artists such as Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kellie Pickler, and Scotty McCreery; Season Two of The Voice has given us Gwen Sebastian.
Prior to her time on The Voice in 2012, Gwen Sebastian had released three albums and an EP. With years of experience on her hands, it’s no surprise that the singer made a great debut when on the show. Although she never made it to the live shows, coach Blake Shelton invited Gwen on tour that year.
Since her departure from the show, Gwen has been seen on countless award shows and daytime TV appearances as backup for her coach. Today, Gwen Sebastian has released her first full-length project since the show – Gwen Sebastian.
It’s evident that the years of experience on both a Nashville and national scene have led way to who Gwen Sebastian is today. Over the years, she has been able to perfect her craft – allowing her to deliver the self-titled album that is available now.
Her single, “Suitcase” is currently going for radio adds but the sultry goodbye song isn’t the only song that is ready to be heard on a larger-scale! Every song on the release is proof of Gwen’s talent and god-given voice. Without a major label behind her, Gwen is able to put out music that she is truly proud of.
Gwen isn’t the only one proud of the disc, however. Miranda Lambert, who has said Gwen is like a part of her family, lends vocals on the gun slinging, get back bonus track of “Annie’s New Gun.” Real-life parents Deb and Gerald are featured on a personal favorite of mine, “One Like That.”
There have been a lot of great country releases this year, but even on first listen, this collection of 15 songs was in my top 5 and every time I give it a listen, it jumps up a spot. It’s one disc that definitely won’t disappoint a country music lover.
The album is available on Amazon and iTunes now for less than $10.
