With just over a week until the release of their highly anticipated album, Gravity, Big & Rich premiered the video for the album’s romantic first single “Look At You.” Filmed at Caesar’s in Las Vegas and inside the Brooklyn Bowl, the video follows a burgeoning love story, beginning with a chance lobby meeting, some poolside admiring and finally a romantic rendezvous. However, as the video ends and we’re left wondering what’s become of our star-crossed lovers, we learn that there’s more to come in this story. True to Big & Rich form of never doing anything the old-fashioned way, the video is the first in an epic four-part music video and short film, “The Gravity Quadrilogy.”
The video, produced and directed by award winner Trey Fanjoy, is equal parts love story, short film and Big & Rich concert. While the clip follows our hero in his quest for love, John Rich and Big Kenny provide the perfect music for this boy-meets-girl tale, belting out the song from a stage. “Look At You” is a sweeping romantic ballad, expressing what it’s like when you can’t keep your eyes off of a new love.
We meet the video’s leading man in the lobby of a hotel where we learn he’s lost his keys and visiting Sin City on business. His eyes drift to three new arrivals and one of the females immediately catch his attention. He wanders the halls, pours himself a stiff drink and eventually sets his eyes on his future ladylove at the pool before finally meeting her at the bar. He undoubtedly uses his work card to buy drinks and the pair is lost in each other on the dance floor, unable to look at anyone, but each other.
Yet, as the song ends, we’re dying to know what happens. Considering the video is set in Vegas, is there a quickie wedding by Elvis? Do they recreate The Hangover? Is she really a man…or a murderer? So. many. questions.
I’m already dying to watch Part 2 of “The Gravity Quadrilogy.” I haven’t been this excited for a music video since R. Kelly released “Trapped in the Closet,” and no, I’m not joking. Big & Rich, bring on Part 2.
