In many ways, 2014 was a year of rebirth for Big and Rich, who independently released their fifth studio album, Gravity, which spawned only their second Top 10 hit. It may be hard to believe, but during their long and storied career, “Look At You” is only their second release to crack the top 10, coming seven years afters 2007’s #1 “Lost in This Moment.”
While they may be known for their raucous parties and explosive stage shows, Big and Rich also shine brightly when the show their romantic side, which they do beautifully throughout Gravity. While the album was full of tracks that screamed with potential for a second single, the duo chose “Run Away with You,” which appears to be the perfect choice.
The song is a slow building romantic track with John Rich on lead vocals, his voice a tender plea to a woman he just wants to run away with. However, this isn’t a new love, but a long-term fire in need of some reigniting. While the love is still strong, it’s lacking the passion it once had and Rich isn’t content to let it burn out.
I just wanna run, I just want to run away with you/ And live wide open / Set em on fire, crazy like we used to / It don’t matter where we’re going / Up on a mountain, down by the beach side / Til we find the love that we fell into / Hey, I just wanna run, I just want to run away with you / I just want to run away with you.
The heartfelt ballad is the perfect Part Two for “The Gravity Quadrilogy,” Big and Rich’s epic video anthology that began in Vegas with “Look At You.”
“Run Away with You” was co-written by John Rich and Michael Ray, one of #CMChat’s 15 Country Music Artists to Watch in 2015, who also included his own version of the song on his recently released Tour Bootleg EP.
