Country Music Association award-winning author Deborah Evans Price published Country Faith, a book of country music stars’ favorite Bible passages, in 2013. Country Faith has a companion music series.
Country Faith America, the fifth in the series, is a 15-song compilation of patriotic songs by today’s country artists.
“I’m so excited about this collection of songs on Country Faith America. The album opens with ‘Country Nation,’ Brad Paisley’s upbeat anthem, and the project continues with songs that spotlight faith and patriotism such as Brooks & Dunn’s ‘Only In America,’ Big & Rich’s poignant ‘8th of November,’ and new traditionalist Shane Owens’ ‘19.’ I think listeners will find a great deal of comfort and spirit through these powerful songs.” (Deborah Evans Price)
“Not Me” (recorded by former United States elite Task Force Army Ranger/singer Keni Thomas with Vince Gill and Emmylou Harris)
While deployed, Thomas survived an 18-hour fire battle in Mogadishu during support of Operation Restore Hope in Somalia in 1993. Black Hawk Down, a 2001 feature film starring Josh Harnett, Ewan McGregor, and Tom Sizemore, was based on the events of Operation Restore Hope.
“A young captain at attention, a star pinned on his chest He recalls the battle while the final roll call’s readThey were the finest soldiers it was my privilege to lead They deserve the medals the men who died not me”
“19” (recorded by singer Shane Owens)
The song tells the story of a young man, a local football star, who enlists following the September 11th terrorist attacks on American soil and his ultimate sacrifice.
“Soldier’s Wife” (Don’t Want You To Go) (recorded by American Young)
The track was written from the wife’s perspective, as her husband is being deployed. The soldier tells her not to be scared but her fears and doubts make that impossible.
