Last week we were given two amazing gifts by the music industry: Blake Shelton’s Bringing Back the Sunshine and Lady Antebellum’s 747. The excitement felt for these albums was widespread, as the two experienced great sales successes in their debut weeks on the charts.
Bringing Back the Sunshine sold 101,000 copies, landing Blake at the top of the charts in the first week of sales for the second time in his career, while 747 sold (ironically) 74,000 copies, soaring to Number 2. This marks the first time since 2010 that country albums went back-to-back on the top of the Billboard chart. And, here is a little bit of trivia for you, this is also the first time in history that an album with the word “sunshine” in the title claimed the Number 1 spot.
This week brought us Jason Aldean’s Old Boots, New Dirt, and, in the not so distant future, country music hit-makers Florida Georgia Line and Garth Brooks will be releasing their next albums. It appears as though country music has no intention of stopping its takeover any time soon.
