Much to CBS Big Brother fans’ delight, iconic show couple Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd (who met five years ago on Season 11 of the hit show), made their return to the house last night. Jordan believed she was returning to host a competition, but Jeff had other plans. In the backyard of the house at which they met, started a friendship/relationship, and fell in love, Jeff dropped to one knee and asked Jordan to be his wife (the video of which is embedded below). A shocked and borderline unenthusiastic Jordan accepted the proposal and Big Brother fans across the country rejoiced.
However, it didn’t take long for Jordan to join in the excitement felt inside and outside the house, as Jeff announced another surprise … a guest performance by country star Brett Eldredge. Finally Jordan reacted to what was going on around her, as she realized one of her favorite artists was about to sing in celebration of her impending marriage. Oh, and houseguest “Beastmode Cowboy” (whose birth name is Caleb) equally shared his happiness about the arrival of Eldredge at the house of supreme alienation.
Eldredge performed a song he penned entitled “Mean To Me” which was on his 2013 Bring You Back album, but was not released as a radio single. Well, at least it hasn’t been released as a single yet. The track is a deviation from Eldredge’s usual catchy and upbeat songs, such as hits “Don’t Ya” and “Beat of the Music,” showing off Eldredge’s smooth, soulful vocals that occasionally boom so deep and have such a pleasant tone that any woman would melt after hearing just one line. Couple his voice with some of the most romantic lyrics that have been jotted on to a piece of paper and it’s no wonder Eldredge has female fans swooning worldwide.
The track’s opening lines are enough to make someone go weak at the knees:
If I could be the reason your hair’s a mess, the bass drum beatin way down deep in your chest. If I could be the voice on your radio, then I could be your long ride home. If mine could be the name that changes yours, the wine in your glass, the swing on your porch, the dollar in your pocket and the peaceful in your sleep, then I’d be what you mean to me.
Encapsulating what it means to be in love and have one person be your everything, Eldredge croons in the chorus, “standing here watching you turning every head in this crowded room, the lights down low, dancin’ slow, oh, if falling’s how you feel and perfect is what you see, then I’d be what you mean to me.”
The choice of song and artist could not have been more apropos for the occasion and, as a Big Brother fan and bonafide “JeJo” lover since the minute they met, it brings me great joy to see Jeff and Jordan going strong and starting their happily ever after. Congratulations to the adorable couple on their engagement!
