This week, I’d like to introduce you to singer/songwriter Canaan Smith, who will be a guest on #CMchat for a Twitterview on July 14! The Virginia native grew up singing along to an eclectic set of musical influences, but it wasn’t until his college years that he turned his love for singing into a passionate dream he would soon chase as a career. After playing shows in Music City, Smith would soon decide that college just wasn’t for him and he was going to make making music his full-time job.
Since that decision, it’s been full steam ahead for the country up and comer. He has since opened for Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line. He has penned songs for Love and Theft (“Runaway“) and co-wrote Jason Aldean‘s “Black Tears” with Tyler Hubbard (FGL). And Smith isn’t going to stop there as he makes sure to make writing songs a top priority. “I feel like 95% of the songs that I’m writing on a daily basis I can see myself doing, but obviously I’m not going to have a 100 songs on an album, so I have no problem pitching them to other artists.”
Already having much success, Canaan shows no signs of slowing down. He is a Mercury recording artist and working on his debut album. The guy sure knows how to entertain a crowd and can be found touring this summer. Check out a behind-the-scenes photo shoot Canaan Smith did and get to know him a bit better.
