[email protected] Makes History with #SomethingInTheWater #CMnews

There certainly must be something in the water, because Carrie Underwood (along with Producer Mark Bright, and co-writers Brett James and Chris DeStefano) has done it again. What’s “it” exactly? She has released yet another hit song to add to her resume. However, this time, Carrie made country music history in conjunction with the release.

“Something in the Water,” a power ballad that is receiving the highest of accolades from Carrie’s industry peers and fans alike, not only reached “hit” classification in expeditious fashion, it broke records along the way — personal and genre-wide. During its first week of sales (beginning September 29th), “Something in the Water” sold over 124,000 digital copies, which marks the highest first-week sales of Carrie’s career. Additionally, the impressive sales figure denotes the best opening week sales for any female country artist in 2014.

Carrie’s newest single officially impacts radio today, being picked up by 144 stations on impact date, which, again, is record-setting in the country music industry, as this is the most added song on impact date for any country single in history. In total, and according to reports, “Something in the Water” has been added to 157 stations in its first week.

And that isn’t all …

On the Mediabase country airplay chart, “Something in the Water” jetted to Number 25, tying Carrie’s previous personal best debut (“So Small” in 2007) and also tying the highest debut of any artist in 2014. On the Billboard Country Airplay chart, Carrie further enjoys career high chart entry, as the single debuted at #17 — 2014’s highest debut for any solo artist.

With its inspirational lyrics, gorgeous melody, and Carrie’s uniquely prodigious vocals, “Something in the Water” is just beginning to make waves and will, undoubtedly and rightfully, float its way up the charts to the coveted top spot quicker than you can say “amazing grace.”
