As the face of Sunday Night Football, Carrie Underwood is no stranger to the NFL scene, so knowing she will be singing a special little jam called “Waiting All Day for a Super Bowl Fight” as the opening theme for NBC’s broadcast of Super Bowl XLIX Sunday really makes sense.
Each week of the last two NFL seasons, the multi-platinum recording artist’s performance of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” has kicked off “Sunday Night Football,” primetime television’s Number 1 program.
The opening theme for NBC’s coverage of Super Bowl XLIX will feature new elements, including lyrics featuring the AFC champion New England Patriots and NFC champion Seattle Seahawks, and a special set design.
“I’m so honored to again be a part of the Super Bowl, this time joining NBC Sports in helping kick everything off! I can’t wait to watch the game!” says Underwood in a news release.
NBC will broadcast Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday from Glendale, Arizona. Coverage kicks off at 11 a.m. central time. Make sure you’re tuned in a lil bit early to assure you see Carrie do her thang.

Carrie became the voice of Sunday Night Football’s “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” in 2013, after Faith Hill had the honors for the six preceding seasons. Prior to Faith’s stint as the face of the Sunday Night Football theme song, P!nk covered Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You” as an anthem. Upon Carrie receiving the call in 2013, she informed Fox Sports News ”[f]or me, it just always seemed like something that would be fun to do. To watch Faith do it week after week, to see that hype for the game, it’s something that’s so cool.”
