Every week in Country Music Chat’s/#CMchat’s #DigitalDuel we will be featuring two songs for you to vote on. The songs might be related, might be different covers, or have no relation at all. Once they’re posted, it’s up to you – the fans – to spread the word and hash it out to win the #DigitalDuel. Simple enough?

Here’s your new challenge:

Carrie Underwood vs. Faith Hill – “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night”

You may have noticed that over the last few weeks, #CMchat has been active in fantasy football. For quite some time country and football have gone together – from the tailgate, to the national anthem, to the halftime show. In 2007, NBC signed Faith Hill to sing “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” after Pink had done the honors the year before. For 5 years, Faith’s version of the song graced TV sets around the US as we awaited the weekend’s biggest game. Although a new video was presented every year, the song remained largely the same. Here is Faith’s version of “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night”:

In 2013, it was announced that Faith Hill would no longer be the voice behind Sunday Night Football. By May, the new artist was announced – American Idol Winner, Carrie Underwood. As the 2014 season begins, we still hear Carrie weekly as the voice of Sunday night, but will her reign last as long as Faith’s? Check out Carrie’s version of “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” around 2 min 12 seconds:

Now the ball’s in your court. Carrie and Faith are both becoming iconic figures in country music, but can one truly be better than the other? Who will be crowned the winner in this head-to-head battle? Vote for your pick in this week’s #DigitalDuel.

  1. Always loved Faith. But, Carrie’s version is the best to me. Go Carrie.
