This Month on Cassie’s Kick-ass Country

This month has been a whirlwind on Cassie’s Kick-ass Country. Now having ten episodes live, I have received an amazing amount of support.

Let’s recap:

EP. 1: William Michael Morgan

Sitting down with William Michael Morgan was more like two friends hanging out than an interview. His carefree spirit, charm, and sense of humor made this episode enjoyable to do. Since this was my first episode, I was thankful that I had a friend who was willing to support me on this crazy journey. Plus, his music isn’t bad either! “Missing” is his latest single after coming off of his first number one with “I Met A Girl.”

5 songs I can’t get out of my head this week:

“Do I Make You Wanna” Billy Currington

“Losing Sleep” Chris Young

“Church Clothes” Kelleigh Bannen

“Hey Whiskey” Smithfield

“I Should Go To Church Sometime” Tyler Farr

EP. 2: CMA Fest

I was still in shock at this point- I had actually made it to a second episode. The second episode, I felt more comfortable. I talk about CMA Fest: what to expect, which concerts to go to, and where to visit in your down time. I also ended with the “famous” 5 songs I can’t get out of my head.

5 songs I can’t get out of my head this week:

“Breakup Sex” Hunter Phelps

“Walk Away” Cody Johnson

“Man Enough Now” Chris Bandi

“I’ll Be The Moon” Dierks Bentley ft. Maren Morris

“Body Like A Backroad” Sam Hunt

EP. 3: Lena Stone

I sat down with Lena and talked about her new single “Nervous,” which is such a great song! We also had the chance to discuss the Song Suffragettes and their “Let The Girls Play” campaign. The organization picks a couple female artists each week to play at the Listening Room Cafe in Nashville.

Lena Stone also co-wrote “Fight Like A Girl” with her best friend Kalie Shorr. The song was a big hit on Sirius XM The Highway.

5 songs I can’t get out of my head this week:

“A Little Dive Bar In Dahlonega” Ashley McBryde

“Sway” Danielle Bradbery

“Lonely One” Luke Combs

“Drinkin’ Problem” Midland

“Suitcase” Steve Moakler

Bonus EP: Elizabeth Lyons

SURPRISE!! I do some bonus episodes, which come out on Thursdays. This episode I talk to Elizabeth Lyons about her new single “Champagne.” She’s really energetic, bubbly, and fun! I met her at CMA Fest in 2016 and we have become fast friends. She’s the most relatable artist I’ve ever met and one you definitely listen to.

EP. 4: Camille Rae

Camille Rae is an up and coming country artist with a new single titled “I Need Me.” I first found her through Facebook and was completely hooked on the new song. I was elated when I realized I’d have the chance to sit down and talk to her.

5 songs I can’t get out of my head this week:

“Legends” Kelsea Ballerini

“Waitin’ on the Whiskey to Work” Drake White

“Lookin’ for a Buzz” Ashley McBryde

“How Not To” Dan + Shay

“Every Little Thing” Carly Pearce

EP. 5: Clark Hill

Clark Hill is hilarious! We had such a great interview and it went way over the time set for the podcast. He’s very charming and has a big personality. I’m sure that translates well on stage. His new song “Perfect To Me” was actually written by Chris Young. It’s a song that fits Clark’s voice perfectly. This episode I decided to have a featured artist instead of the usual five songs.

Featured Artist:

“Blue Tacoma” and “Yours” Russell Dickerson

Bonus EP: Jeremy Chua

In this bonus episode, Jeremy Chua, a #CMchat writer takes over and talks about his favorite songs! I even made him do the “5 songs I can’t get out of my head.” He definitely came prepared! He talks about how he got into country music all the way from Singapore and how Kellie Pickler fueled that passion to one day move to Nashville and begin college. Also,

Jeremy’s 5 songs he can’t get out of his head:

“Love in a Bar” Ryan Hurd

“Would’ve Left Me Too” Ryan Griffin

“If You Feel Like Me” Seth Alley

“Act Like You Don’t” Brooke Eden

“Those I’ve Loved” Eric Church

EP. 6: Codie Prevost

Canadian country music artist Codie Prevost has been around for awhile and now he’s in the process of recording his fifth studio album. His new single “You Won’t Sleep Tonight” is available now and it’s different than any other music Codie has put out. I like the new sound and I hope that this is going to be what his new album is made of. Codie told me that it’ll be out this fall and I’ll be sure to post the links!

Featured Artists:

“Used To” and “Hard Drive Home” Bailey Bryan

“If My Name Was Whiskey” Carly Pearce

EP. 7: Ashliegh Lisset

July 4th was the perfect time to post this interview with Ashliegh Lisset. She comes from a military family and lost her dad in 2007 while he was on his second deployment. Being in the military myself, I felt for Ashliegh, so we talked a lot about her dad and how she found life after loss. She’s one of the strongest people I have ever met and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to interview her. This was the perfect episode for the patriotic holiday. Her new single “Goodbye” is available now.

July 4th Playlist:
