Catching Up With @JoshGracin

Singers are a dime a dozen, but true storytellers are far more rare. Josh Gracin is the latter. Whether he is crooning over his signature hits “Brass Bed” and “Nothin’ To Lose” (which is still thumpin’ on our iPod) or his new single “Drink It Gone,” this former American Idol finalist digs into heartfelt stories and blistering melodies. It also helps that the guy is quite the charmer!

The Michigan native, who previously served in the United States Marine Corps, launched into an impressive career following his fourth place finish on the hit FOX singing competition. With the release of his self-titled debut album (now a gold-selling set), Gracin achieved three Top 5 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. As the illustrious follow-up, the singer certainly delivered on We Weren’t Crazy in 2008, which spawned a Top 10 hit with the title track. Three years later, he dropped Redemption, a sensational showcase for his songwriting; it also produced another hit with “Long Way To Go” on the adult contemporary tally.

Despite taking a step back from the limelight in recent years, Gracin continues truckin’ it, with his Drink It Gone Tour currently ramping up all over the country.

Meanwhile, he’s been hard at work in the studio writing and recording for his next set, an EP called Worth This Love–expected later this year. “Drink It Gone” is the lead single. The EP title track will be coming soon as the next single!

On Friday (May 9), the crooner shared a brand new song called “Leave Me Alone,” a co-write with Paul Taylor and Tammy Jacobs. Take a listen:

He’s also shared the lyrics to several other co-writes, detailed below:

Beautiful,” co-written by Gracin and Tammy Jacobs:

Must have done something
What did i do
To get an angel
An angel like you
Oh how oh how you shine
I want to be with you girl all the time

Cause your so damn beautiful
I can’t take my eyes off you
And it don’t make sense at all
Why you love me like you do
When you take off your make Up and turn down the lights
I thank God that i finally did Something right
Cause your so, your so damn beautiful

I watch you walk in
The way that you move
Makes me realize
I got so much to loose
I wanna stay your man
I’m gonna do all that I can

Repeat chorus

Bridge
I wanna stay your man
I’m gonna do all that I can

Repeat Chorus

Anywhere,” co-written by Gracin and Jayce Hein:

Verse
Hop in and push that pedal down
I’ve got to catch her before she leaves this town
Every time she gets to close she bails
But I won’t let us fail

Chorus
Baby you can run
Or even try to hide
But there’s no place you can go
That won’t keep me by your side
Every turn every mile
No matter how far
It’s worth your smile I know
Girl I swear
I’m gonna love you anywhere

I know you said this is how it would be
If you ever found yourself lovin me
But I’m not the type to just let you leave
Girl that’s not me

Chorus

Bridge
I know your scared I’ve been there too
I felt it when I looked at you
I know we can make it through
There’s nothin we can’t do
Nothin we can’t do
There’s nothin we can’t do
Nothin we can’t do

Repeat Chorus

Waiting“:

Verse
As I watch you walk away,
I’m trying hard to explain,
What i might have done, that Got us to this place,
Oh i wish that you could see All I believe
Your running out of time, Waiting on a sign, waiting on me

Verse
It hurts to see you cry, and i Want so bad to stay,
But the only thing that can Change your heart is faith,
I wanna wrap you in my arms And make you believe
Running out of time, waiting on a sign, waiting on me

Chorus
I’m right here, that wont change,
And if you choose to walk Away my love remains,
No matter what you choose to Do,
I’ll be right here, waiting on a prayer,
Waiting on you

I’m right here, that wont change,
and if you choose to walk away my love remains,
no matter what you choose to do
( ill be right here, waiting on a prayer, waiting on you,
ill be right here, waiting on your prayers, waiting on you.)

You And Me,” co-written by Gracin, Paul Taylor and Tammy Jacobs:

I just thought we’d make it through somehow
I’ve done this enough times to know what it’s all about
You keep trying to change me
But I can’t pretend
You want what you want
But you won’t love me like I am

It’s kinda like
Tryin to go south on a north bound train
Tryin to stay dry when your standing in the rain
Sometimes it’s just not meant to be
Why do I try to keep us on track
When I’m lovin somebody that won’t love me back
Baby it ain’t to hard to see
It’s just like you and me

You keep on saying those things you always say
But you and I both know there not a good reason to stay

Chorus

Bridge

Don’t tell me that I’m all you need
So I think it’s better If I leave

Cause I’m tired of
Tryin to go south on a north bound train
Tryin to stay dry
When I’m standing in the rain
Baby it just ain’t meant to be
I’m tired of doin all it takes to keep us on track
When I’m lovin somebody that don’t love me back
Baby it ain’t that hard to see
It’s just like you and me

Leave,” co-written by Gracin and Tammy Jacobs:

Please don’t
Look at me like that
Cause you know
That I can’t hold back
Don’t say
Those words to me
Cause they’re the lies
Before you leave

We’ll wreck this bed
Then you’ll wreck my head
When the morning comes and The sun comes up
Your gone again
So just leave, baby leave

Beautiful
But deadly to touch
And one kiss
Is never enough
You’ll pull me close
Just to break down
Till the next time you come around
Then i’ll swear to myself
I won’t do this again
But look what i’m doing now

Bridge
Zip up that dress
I wont cross that line
There’s nothing you can do this time
You can tell yourself
That i’m gonna give in
But tonight your not gonna win
