Catching Up With @KristyLeeCook

Kristy Lee Cook: one of those rare polished gems which shines brighter than all the rest. She might not have a bonafide hit under her belt, but this singer has proved her mettle in other ways. Her material t0-date is some of the best, especially her last solo entry “Airborne Ranger Infantry,” a sensitive ballad inspired by her father. While it did not gain traction at radio (apparently radio DJs and programmers didn’t get the memo), Cook made a bold statement with her Red Bow Records debut. As the followup, she joined forces with Randy Houser for the remarkable “Wherever Love Goes,” from his 2013-released How Country Feels.

On that collaboration, she previously told Billboard, “I am so excited to have a record out with Randy. Benny Brown (Broken Bow president) came to me with the song, and he brought it to him, as well. I listened to it, and it was one of those instant feelings where I just I loved it. He did too. It’s my first duet, and to be able to release it with Randy is amazing. I think he’s the best male vocalist in Nashville.”

Previously, Cook charted with her Arista / 19 Recordings debut Why Wait, which featured the Top 30 single “15 Minutes Of Shame.” The set arrived at No. 49 on the Billboard 200, an all-genre chart documenting sales per week. Unfortunately, months after her project was released, she parted ways with the label, unsure of her future. Of course, the music business is a fickle one, but she later landed on her feet, signing with Broken Bow Records, the home to such artists as Jason Aldean and Dustin Lynch.

“After ‘American Idol’ and my first album I took a beat and spent some time musically soul-searching,” the starlet shared on Facebook. “Now I have a new label and also new management and publicity teams,” continues Cook. “It’s so important in this industry to build a team that sincerely understands and supports you and your vision as an artist. I’ve worked really hard over the last couple of years to find those people and to also grow as an artist.”

If you’ve been itching for new Cook tunes like we have, don’t fret! She has a brand new single hitting airwaves in June! And her Broken Bow debut set is nearly done! For the new project, she revealed on social media that she’s enlisted New Voice to assist in recording. New Voice is comprised of Aldean band members Rich Redmond, Tully Kennedy and Kurt Allison and singer-songwriter David Fanning (Thompson Square, Parmalee).

As a side project, Cook appeared on the recently-released Working Man’s Poet: A Tribute To Merle Haggard set, which also features Houser, Aldean, Joe Nichols, Jake Owen, Lynch, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley and Ben Haggard. Cook lays down serious vocals on a version of “Today I Started Loving You Again.”

This entire year, the Idol alum has been touring the world far and wide, bringing the joy of her music to her fans.

No date has been set on when exactly Cook’s single will hit iTunes, but stay tuned! Of course, music isn’t the only thing she has going on right now. She recently signed with Mac Duggal Clothing Company to design her own line and to show off the company’s fine fashion.

She’s also shared some of the high-fashion looks from her photo shoots:
