Tonight’s Country Music #CMchat Twitterview guest, Chris Young, is busy promoting his new single “Lonely Eyes,” a track from his latest album A.M. Today, Chris premiered the music video for his song, giving fans an early holiday gift of well-produced proportions.
“Lonely Eyes” is a track about a woman who enters a bar and sits next to Young, radiating beauty, but emitting loneliness through her glittering green eyes. Quite appropriately, the music video depicts Young in various performance scenes, singing to this lone lady while he himself is alone. The video switches back and forth between shots of Young delivering the lyrics and a gorgeous, long-haired blonde with glistening eyes of green who is also flying solo in her scenes.
The only indication that these two single souls are progressively nearing one another is the lighted sign that spells out “LONELY EYES” in the background; an element of the set that Lady Lonely Eyes is in front of in several sectors of the video. Throughout the majority, Young can be seen standing with the lit letters scattered in the background, but, by the end, he too is cleverly in front of the indicative marquee, allowing viewers to foreshadow that the two will end up sharing a frame by the end of the song.
“Lonely Eyes” was filmed overnight at The Cannery Ballroom in Nashville, which served as a perfect set for the treatment of this video. With windows overlooking Nashville and decor that allowed for distinguished settings for each Young and his female lead, the venue provided a dark, rustically romantic aura for a song that is a perfect combination of passionate and impulsive.
