5 Country Songs For Your Cinco De Mayo Playlist

Cinco De Mayo is a Mexican holiday meaning “5th of May” which is the date observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over the french forces at the Battle Of Puebla in 1862. However, these days, all of us country folks just use it as one big excuse to get drunk. Right? Well, you’re in luck! I got just the playlist for you and your rowdy friends to party on…Cinco De Mayo style!

1. Kenny Chesney- Beer In Mexico

This song pretty much speaks for itself and let’s face it, Kenny Chesney is like the Mexico spokesperson of country music. It’s a breezy tune, one that will have you sipping a beer and hitting the good green in no time. You feel me?

2. Toby Keith – Stays In Mexico

This 2004 hit should be the redneck Cinco De Mayo theme song. Hey, what happens in Mexico – well you get the picture!

3. Brooks & Dunn – Mexican Minutes

What a true country classic. This song even has a sweet Mexican sound. It’s a little mellow but hell everyone needs a good slow drinkin’ song!

4. Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffet – It’s 5 o clock somewhere

A fun tune that incorporates Margaritaville life, it’s really a good mixture of redneck vs islander theory. I mean, they go hand in hand! It’s a perfect song not only for Cinco De Mayo but for life in general. Cheers y’all!

5. Brett Eldredge – Beat Of The Music

Then, there is always a song about a Mexican lady! Ahhh, good ol’ country music, we love our women! Although to get your Cinco De Mayo fix, I would suggest the music video for this song – it’s a good one!

Now that I got you started, kick back and relax and let the fiesta begin PLUS here’s a bonus from Billy Shaw Jr singing a song he wrote in 10 Minutes on KiiM FM this morning.
