It’s rare for a country artist to attract mainstream buzz and attention with a debut single, but newcomer Clare Dunn is doing just that on the heels of her hot first track “Get Out.” The single is a twangy, rocking ode to escaping the stressful week and letting off some steam somewhere outside of town. What Dunn does here is prove that country boys aren’t the only ones who can throw down with a relatable party anthem. In the chorus, Dunn lets us know that she simply wants to “get out and get down,” and get down she certainly does.
The single was co-written by Dunn and Ben West (Pink, Cassadee Pope) and features Dunn playing all of the guitar on the infectious earwormy track. Speaking of the first single off her forthcoming EP, Dunn says, “Writing ‘Get Out’ was the first time me and Ben wrote and everything just clicked. It truly had been a long ass week – long ass couple of months actually! – and it was all catchin’ up with me that day. We all have times when we need to have a little break from the stresses that weigh on us. For me it was just that simple and honest. We all have our own ways of blowing off steam, and however you like to get out and get down is the best thing! Just go for it. That’s the message of this song.”
With its blaring guitars and rock-leaning vocals, “Get Out” is the perfect anthem for girls who aren’t afraid to throw down. Think the Band Perry meets Miranda Lambert thrown into a blender with Pink, Cassadee Pope and an infectious first single. Sonically, the track is polished and catchy, while it’s lyrically simple enough to stand out as an anthem for any girl needing to blow off some steam. There’s no need for prim and proper here, and that is clearly resounding with music listeners. The single currently sits at #17 on Music Row, #41 on Billboard Indicator and #43 on Aircheck Activator.
Dunn has already opened for the likes of Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, Colt Ford, Parmalee, Hank Jr. and Jamey Johnson, winning fans over with each performance. Now that her single is burning up the airwaves and garnering attention, we suspect her fanbase will only continue it’s rapid growth. She is currently working on her debut EP and has already written with and for some of Nashville’s biggest names, including Hillary Lindsey, Troy Verges, Liz Rose, Brice Long, Will Hoge, Chris Lindsey, Tommy Lee James and more. Additionally, she lent her voice to the background vocals of Luke Bryan’s smash “County Girl (Shake It For Me)” and co-wrote “Farm Life,” a track recorded by Colt Ford and Justin Moore on Ford’s recently released album, Thanks for Listening.
On “Get Out,” Dunn is seeking a “little buzz, little love…” and if she keeps putting out tracks like this, she’s certainly going to get it from the country music community.
