William Kenneth Alphin is a seventh generation native of Culpepper, VA. Many wouldn’t recognize him by that name, but if you mention the name Big Kenny anywhere there’s country music playing, you’ll get a big smile.
Known as half of the duo, Big and Rich, Big Kenny has done a lot of solo work in recent years, releasing an album titled The Quiet Times of a Rock and Roll Farm Boy. It peaked at #37 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums.

Besides being a musician, to say that Big Kenny is a humanitarian seems like a small way to describe a man that does so much to help others. Earlier this year he received the 2013 CRS Artist Humanitarian Award along with John Rich at the 2013 Country Radio Seminar. Big Kenny’s charity Love Everybody combines his compassion for others with his love of music. Since 2005 Big Kenny’s organization Love Everybody has been able to:
Bring 12 shows played in 72 hours for members of the American Armed Forces in Haiti
Raise $1 million to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Southern FL at annual fundraiser
Put 550 girls in the Kunyuk school built through partnership with My Sister’s Keeper
Give 140 guitars donated to 4th graders via Little Kids Rock
Raise $60,000 to directly benefit the African Children’s Choir
Help create 1000s of memories being made in the new houses built by BABA for numerous wounded military service men and women
All you have to do is watch him speak for just a few moments to realize just what a special individual he truly is. Big Kenny is more than just a big man and big talent. He is a man with a very big heart. Other artists, musicians and frankly, just about anyone should take a cue from him. If we all did a sliver of what he has done, this world would be a much better place.
