Hollywood Hosts Brittany Snow and Erin Andrews joined country music megastars and fans alike at the 2015 CMT Music Awards, broadcasted live from Music City on June 10, 2015. For the first time ever, The CMT Music Awards was broadcasted on 124 iHeart Radio stations as well.
Strobe lights and enthusiasm opened the show as Lady Antebellum took the stage, performing their brand new single, “Long Stretch of Love.” EDM star Zedd merged his sound with Lady A for an electrifying mash-up in country/pop/EDM heaven and the audience was soon fist pumping and dancing along.
Cheeky video clips added humor and spunk to the Awards. My favorite was Arnold Schwarzenegger as a “guuuber” driver (play off of Uber) taking guests to the Awards Show. In the same video, Justin Bieber was seen singing “Country Girl (Shake it for Me)” after he admitted he was going to the awards show only because he has a crush on Luke Bryan!
Fresh talent on The Nationwide Stage included Breakout Artists Kelsea Ballerini, A Thousand Horses, Chris Janson, Frankie Ballard, Maddie and Tae, and RaeLynn. Each got a taste of their future as they performed the chorus to their current single while the audience cheered them on.
Not surprisingly, new mom Carrie Underwood reigned supreme as she was up for five nominations, and she took home FOUR Buckle trophies! There was certainly a Carrie theme in the air last night! Co-host Snow, joined by a backup choir, sang a sassy parody, “Erin’s Got a Girl Crush,” to the tune of Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” which called out her co-host on her love and devotion to Underwood, complete with pictures of Underwood with Andrews photoshopped in. It’s ok, Erin! We also adore Carrie!
Amongst all the fantastic performances by our favorite country megastars including Eric Church, Jason Aldean and Sam Hunt, the artist who stood out most to me was Reba McEntire, who performed her latest smash single “Out Like That.” The excitement in the arena peeked as she made her first performance here in 10 years! Wow! This woman is magical.
Underwood later graced the main stage again for the final performance of the evening. Her debut performance since the birth of her son Isaiah was made as she entered with smoke, lights, flawless beauty and a spectacular performance of “Little Toy Guns.”
Buckle trophy winners of the night included Sam Hunt, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, and Jason Aldean with his unforgettable collaborative performance from CMT Crossroads with Bob Seger.
Closing out the show was the much anticipated highest honor of the night, the fan-voted Video of the Year! Winner Carrie Underwood was announced for her video “Something in The Water” and a roaring celebratory clamor took over the Bridgestone Arena. What a way to close out a star-studded, Buckle trophy winning evening!
Thank you for following along with us and thank you, CMT and Bridgestone Arena for orchestrating the incredible, unforgettable 2015 CMT Awards Show!
