At the end of 2014, CMT announced its “Next Women of Country” list. Included on the coveted list of female rising stars were: Maddie & Tae, Mickey Guyton, RaeLynn, Angaleena Presley, Lindsay Ell, Lucy Hale, Natalie Stovall, Nikki Lane, Ashley Monroe, Brandy Clark, Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery, Holly Williams, Kacey Musgraves, Kelleigh Bannen, Kristen Kelly, Laura Bell Bundy, Lauren Alaina, Pistol Annies, Rachel Farley, Rose Falcon, Sarah Darling, and Sheryl Crow.
Today, CMT announced its tour, explaining that it will launch on April 30th in Grand Rapids, Michigan and visit nine other cities, including Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville, and Orlando. Jana expressed her excitement about the tour in a statement:
I’ve wanted something like this for a long time, just to be a fan and go see but also because I love when women are together.
And when asked about her tour co-headliner, Jana said:
She’s a doll, so we ended up exchanging numbers. She came over a couple weeks ago. We had some wine and hung out.
Jana also addressed the issue that is prevalent in country music today, as it pertains to females in the genre:
I feel like the tide is definitely turning. There are some amazing songs out there by women. They’re getting heard more now. I feel like certain things are dying off, and this is the best time for us to slip in with these songs.
