“Drop Top” artist Cole Taylor is bound to be the next Luke Bryan.
The Georgia native has lately been getting a lot of airplay on SiriusXM’s The Highway as one of their Highway Finds.
Taylor is a singer/songwriter for Universal Music Publishing Group Nashville whose songs have been recorded by Florida Georgia Line (“Sippin’ on Fire”), Chase Rice (“Look at My Truck”) and many more Nashville A-listers. In 2012, Taylor was named Georgia’s Artist of the Year, and Male Artist of the Year following his acclaimed albums in both 2009 and 2011.
He has written with some of Nashville’s top songwriters Jimmy Robbins (“Slow Me Down” performed by Sara Evans, “We Were Us” performed by Keith Urban ft. Miranda Lambert), Rodney Clawson (“Crazy Town” performed by Jason Aldean, “Crash My Party” performed by Luke Bryan) and Ryan Hurd (“Payback” performed by Rascal Flatts, “Later On” performed by The Swon Brothers) just to name a few.
Taylor has a unique but simple approach to songwriting.
“It’s not really like this big, complicated way of saying things,” he says. “It’s how a small-town guy would say it, and that’s what reaches people. I grew up with this natural, conversational way of saying stuff that works, where people don’t have to think about it.
“I want to be honest with people,” he says. “I don’t just sit and write for myself; I write for my fans and try to touch them with the songs, because some people don’t know how to say what they want to say. I observe other people and write about those situations they’re in so that maybe it can change somebody. Music has a powerful message in people’s lives. I know listening to Garth Brooks’ ‘The River’ and ‘The Dance’ pulled me into being a country music fan.”
Taylor released his self-titled EP Cole Taylor on March 3, 2015. The five-song set includes his debut single “Drop Top” along with “See You Around,” “Break That Lonely,” “Boom,” and “More Than Just a Night.”
With all of the connections within his inner circle and around Nashville, he will soon find himself more than just the #OneToWatch.
