‘Twas the day before Christmas and, if you are anything like me, you are stirring and scrambling quite a bit to make sure you procure the best gifts for your loved ones … still. In fact, my favorite part of the holidays is watching my friends and family open the presents I put so much thought into and seeing their reactions. Making the holiday memorable in many ways is really important to me, which is what made me wonder about some of our favorite country stars and the memories they have of their own holidays with loved ones. More specifically, country stars and their favorite Christmas gifts ever.
In this special Christmas-themed Country Music #CMchat 7 Quick Clicks, we look back at the gifts that country music stars found under/around their families’ trees that made lasting impressions on their lives.
1. Thomas Rhett
The son of Georgia Peach Picker, Rhett Akins, Big Machine Label Group recording artist, and the guy who Jessica Northey’s Aunt Carla is just dying for us to have for a #CMchat Twitterview, called a tie between two gifts he received in his life that he would deem his “favorite.” As a kid, Thomas was given his first drum set which, likely, perpetuated his thought “music industry? Gotta get me some of that!” As an adult, Thomas’s wife allowed him to live out a Ralphie type of dream when she gifted him a 12-gauge shotgun. Careful Thomas. You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.
2. Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line
Tyler Hubbard recalled a Christmas when his father gently warned him that the holiday treats would be scarce. In fact, Tyler’s Christmas morning was filled with love and no expectation … until his father took him outside and shocked him with a dirt bike. He simply explained that it “was like the best thing ever.” Should I even cross the line and point out the irony that he was given a dirt bike to ride through that elm shade red road clay he grew up on? Or propose the question if, when it rained, he got stuck on? Nah.
3. Lauren Alaina
Similar to Tyler, Lauren remembered a Barbie bike she was gifted when she was only three. Although she was at an age when it’s almost impossible to recall the intricate details of your life, Lauren is able to dial back to that moment and share that she felt like she “owned the world that day.” Actually, we predict it was probably that day when Lauren got a taste of what it was like to be an Idol, as the kids of the neighborhood envied her when she rode by on her pink chariot.
4. Brantley Gilbert
While seeing Brantley as a “Grown Ass Man” on “Santa’s lap” may be the best Christmas gift I have ever received (in fact, I think this belongs on the mantle of my new apartment), Brantley had a different favorite present recollection. One year, when Brantley was only in third grade and not yet rocking out with St. Nick, he was presented with a miniature dachshund who was his best friend all the way through his high school years. Let’s hear those collective “awwwww’s.”
5. The Band Perry
Surprisingly, Kimberly, Neil, and Reid Perry did not share that their favorite Christmas gift ever was a chainsaw so the Perry family could cut down their annual trees. Instead, similar to Brantley, the three recall a particular Christmas when they also received a new pet … and a carriage for said pet to pull. Clearly I should change my name to “Perry,” because the sibling trio was given a horse and carriage combination one year, which, not-so-shockingly, stood out to them as their most memorable gift yet. Mom, Dad, I’m sorry, but if this is what happens in other families, we’re DONE.
6. Luke Bryan
I’m going to be honest here. I specifically researched Luke Bryan’s favorite Christmas gift just so I could use this picture. While Luke is all “I Don’t Want This Night to End,” Caroline is clearly thinking about how badly she needs to “Drink a Beer.” This family portrait gives Brantley’s rocking Santa experience a run for its money. Luckily for the Bryans, my mantle has room enough for both framed photos. I digress. What did Luke call his favorite gift ever? A Honda 50 motorcycle he received in 1984. “I never will forget seeing that as I walked out.” Anyone else secretly hoping he “walked out” in footed pajamas and that same Santa hat?
7. LeAnn Rimes
Arguably, these adult elves are thinking this picture is the best Christmas gift of their lives. I mean, look at those smiles. Did LeAnn not spread joy in honor of the season? Speaking of spreading joy, LeAnn, too, experienced it when she received her favorite holiday gift ever. While LeAnn called husband, Eddie Cibrian, the best gift she has ever gotten, something Eddie gave her was also quite notable. Literally. Her hubby once taped a handwritten love letter to the bathroom mirror. She qualified her statement with “I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s true.” Cheesy, perhaps, but it’s all sorts of the right kind of wrong.
There you have it. Some of our favorite country music star’s favorites. What was the best gift you ever received? Let us know by leaving a comment below!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
