Christmas is my favorite holiday! I love the family gatherings, the wonderful food, and country artists singing Christmas songs. There’s nothing like Christmas, so until December 25th, these new albums will be on repeat. Don’t you love the holidays?
Kacey Musgraves – A Very Kacey Christmas
The album was released on October 28th and it features artists like Willie Nelson, Leon Bridges, and The Quebe Sisters.
“Working on my first Christmas album has been one of the most enriching musical experiences I’ve ever had and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it,” Kacey Musgraves said. “I really wanted to create a whimsical throwback holiday record, one that evokes feelings of nostalgia and simpler times. I think that the fine musicians and brains that were a part of this project have helped me create a body of music that can be added to people’s classic collections.”
A Very Kacey Christmas is inspired by Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, The Andrew Sisters, and the classic sounds of decades past. Kacey Musgraves added four original tracks on this album as well to show us her own take on the Christmas season.
Chris Young – It Must Be Christmas
The album was released October 14th and includes artists like Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, and Boyz II Men.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a really long time,” Chris Young said. “Christmas is one of my favorite times of year and it was hard to narrow down the list of songs for this record. I’m excited to share my own versions of many of the standards I sang as a kid every year at Christmas, plus I had the opportunity to write a couple of original songs to celebrate the season.”
This will be Chris Young’s sixth album and we are definitely looking forward to listening to it this season!
Reba McEntire – My Kind of Christmas
Her Christmas album was the first to be released on September 2nd. This album features 11 tracks including our favorites, “Jingle Bell Rock,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” and “Winter Wonderland.” Reba’s album is at Cracker Barrel and online. She has also included some other gifts at the family style restaurant.
Reba has previously released two Christmas records Merry Christmas to You and The Secret of Giving: A Christmas Collection. My Kind of Christmas is her 31st album!
Brett Eldredge – Glow
Brett Eldredge named the album saying that he thought of it as a song, and he imagined it as falling in love, because when you do, that other person lights up your entire world. This album also features a duet with Meghan Trainor.
Glow is a Frank Sinatra-inspired album featuring classic songs like “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas.” The album was released October 28th.
The Oak Ridge Boys – Celebrate Christmas
On this 12-track album The Oak Ridge Boys have included some Christmas favorites like “Jingle Bells,” “Joy To The World,” and “Away In A Manger.” They are currently on their 27th annual Christmas tour! The Christmas Celebration Tour will visit over 16 states and will last from November 1 until December 22. On this tour, The Oak Ridge Boys will include music from all seven of their Christmas albums.
Jennifer Nettles – To Celebrate Christmas
This 10-track album was released on October 28th and includes her favorite Christmas tracks including a song written by Dolly Pardon,“Circle of Love.” One of my favorite duets on the album includes Idina Menzel, from the hit Broadway show Wicked, and their rendition of the “Little Drummer Boy.”
To celebrate her newest Christmas album, Jennifer Nettles will hold shows during the holiday season in Nashville. She also hosted the CMA Country Christmas special on ABC, which aired Monday, November 28th, but if you missed it don’t worry you can rewatch it on CMA’s website!
Racal Flatts – The Greatest Gift of All
Released on October 21st, this 10-track album includes a different twist on all of your Christmas favorites. They also produced this album and have vocal help on some of the songs. All of their children sing with them on “Silent Night,” which makes the song deeply personal and all the more wonderful. “Go Tell It on the Mountain” is such a funky, groovy take on Christmas classic. It’s one of my favorites on the album and I love the way Rascal Flatts give their own spin on each of these songs!
They sang some of these classics on CMA Country Christmas special and their performance blew me away!
Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood – Christmas Together
Garth Brooks announced the new album via Facebook live on October 8th and put the album artwork on an Instagram post as well. The album was released November 11th.
Christmas Together includes songs like “Santa Baby,” and my favorite rendition of “Baby it’s Cold Outside.” Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks go together like “peas and carrots.” They have been singing together for as long as they have been married — a long time. This is my favorite Christmas album this year! It also features a song with James Taylor, “What I’m Thankful For.”
