While we have already done two installments of country music stars accepting the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and paying it forward, we would be absolutely remiss if we did not do just ONE MORE, considering some of the artists who jumped (dumped?) on board this week. Let’s put it this way … when King George speaks, you listen. When King George dumps ice cold water over his head, you create a new story.
Before we get into the fun of seeing some of the most legendary country artists of this generation dousing themselves with ice cold water, it’s important to remind you all that without donations, research to cure this currently incurable disease cannot progress. To that end, we are excited to share the following statement from ALSA.org:
As of Friday, August 22, The ALS Association has received $53.3. million in donations compared to $2.2 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 21). These donations have come from existing donors and 1.1 million new donors to The Association.
To contribute to this incredible cause, you can click here to make a donation and have a hand in finding a cure for this devastating disease.
Without further ado, we present the King, Queen, and other chart-topping, award-winning, Entertainers of the Year/Country Music Hall of Famers participating in the #ALSIceBucketChallenge:
1. Garth Brooks
This clearly wasn’t Garth’s first rodeo getting buckets of liquid poured over his head. Garth one-upped the rest of his peers, accepted the challenge on ET, and used what appeared to be Gatorade instead of water. We hope for Trisha’s sake that her domesticated side ends in the kitchen and doesn’t extend to the laundry.
2. Wynonna Judd
She might not have dumped ice water over her head as one-half of “The Judds,” but Wynonna had familial support as she did her deed. She also made sure to nominate a certain fellow legendary red head in the country music community …
3. Reba McEntire
Perhaps one of the more comical videos, Reba took this challenge like a champ, further proving her unselfishness by ending her video with a chilly “I hope you all are happy.”
4. Taylor Swift
This time, instead of seeing red, Taylor is seeing ice cold blue. But, due to her generosity, ALSA is also seeing a lot of green!
5. Shania Twain
Former Entertainer of the Year and current Las Vegas Queen, Shania Twain, accepted the challenge. Looks like someone gotcha good!
6. Ronnie Dunn
Done! Ronnie Dunn is done with the challenge! And he went BIG with a nomination … George Strait, ladies and gentlemen. Will George accept? It appears so!
7. George Strait
Like a true King, George Strait sat in a throne while a bucket of ice water was dumped over his head.
Remember, as much fun as everyone has been having with these challenges, the ultimate goal is to raise money for a wonderful cause. Make sure you donate, along with making your videos and nominating your friends/family. Let’s #StrikeOutALS together!
