Learn how to be “Ladylike” from Courtney Cole

I recently saw Courtney Cole perform at the Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown, OH. It was such a hot day here, but that didn’t stop Cole. She is currently touring with Miranda Lambert and after seeing her in concert I can understand why. She reminds me of Lambert mixed with some Mickey Guyton. Her spunk and sass flow into each song. Her music has the ability to speak to each person as if they were the ones who wrote it.

As the lights came on and Cole came on stage the crowd came alive as if they had never seen a concert before. She came right up to her fans and had them involved in every song. She opened her concert with songs from her EP including my favorite “Ladylike,” which has the best lyrics I have ever heard. Every girl can relate to this song basically stating that society shouldn’t put us in a box like they do. It’s obvious Cole relates to this song by the way she sings it.

She also sang “Fall Like Rain,” which is a song that reminds the listener of that first heartbreak as if it just happened. Cole is one of those artists that can bring you back to each moment in your life and you get lost in her music. The background vocals support her voice and you can’t help but sing along. It’s almost involuntary. “Loud” adds a beat unlike any other song. I got lost in this song, especially with the lyrics. This is one of those songs you listen to once and it’ll be your jam forever. She also included some amazing mashups of artists like Kelly Clarkson, Shania Twain, and Queen.

Cole’s voice is so versatile and confident. She performs like a veteran on stage and has obviously learned a lot from Lambert. She moves around the stage like she owns it. I still can’t believe that this girl is real! I am completely impressed with her ability to get the crowd involved in every song. She also stayed after the concert and took pictures with each of her fans and then line danced with all of them. Courtney Cole is down to earth and treats her fans like family. Be sure to get her EP available now on iTunes and let me know what you think.
