Dan + Shay

Warner Music Nashville recording artists Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney joined Country Music #CMchat for a special “Jessica Northey’s birthday edition” Twitterview. What better way to celebrate your birthday than with double the pleasure and double the fun?!

Dan + Shay didn’t just join us as virtual gifts for #CMchat’s creator, but also to promote their ever-so-exciting and impressive nomination for the ACM New Artist of the Year. Which, by the way, you can still vote for by clicking here. Of course, we knew that tonight’s Twitterview would be wildly successful, considering the massive fan base Dan + Shay have built. However, it was more than we could have hoped for, as the fans couldn’t have been more eager and engaged than they were throughout our special hour with the dazzling duo.

Prior to our Country Music #CMchat time with Dan + Shay, we were big fans of their music, starting from the moment they released the sentimental and vocally sound “19 You + Me,” followed by a stunning record of consecutive tracks of wonderment, Where It All Began. We knew the industry had, likewise, taken notice of their efforts, as they had previously been on tour with Hunter Hayes (We’re Not Invisible Tour) and Blake Shelton (Ten Times Crazier Tour). In fact, because of the overwhelming success of Dan + Shay thus far, the two recently embarked on a headlining tour, the Where It All Began Tour.

While we had a firm grip on what Dan + Shay have been up to as of late, as well as their successful run in country music thus far, we couldn’t wait to share some time with them, on our #CMchat platform, to learn more about this beloved pair. We were surprised to learn that both Dan and Shay aren’t huge fans of bugs. Okay, we aren’t either, but we kind of like that they gave the community the visual of two grown men, standing on chairs screaming at the sight of an insect. We also found out that the most valuable lesson they learned from a country song is that tequila makes her clothes fall off. We didn’t ask them to embellish, though we probably should have …
