Single Review: Dan+Shay – From The Ground Up

ACM vocal duo nominees Dan+Shay have released their new single “From The Ground Up” which is a track on their forthcoming studio album via Warner Music Nashville. In addition to the new single, the duo also recently premiered a video for the song as well.

The track is an inspirational love story filled with strong lyrics and a fairly catchy melody to match. Dan Smyers explained the origins of the single he co-wrote with Shay Mooney and was produced by himself and Scott Hendricks:

“‘From The Ground Up’ is a song that started with a conversation about our grandparents and the love that they shared for the 65-plus years that they were married. It tells the story of the life that they built through their power and dedication to each other, and the perseverance to endure whatever would come their way. We put our hearts and souls into every word and every note of this song, and we just hope that it’s as special to our fans as it is to us.”

Their new single follows “Nothin Like You” which was a major success at country radio reaching No. 1. Their music is consistently strong and this new single stands true to form. It’s a passionate track with vigorous vocals, exceptionally well-written lyrics, and a melody that draws you in. With lyrics such as “We’ll build this love from the ground up for worse or for better and I will be all you need. Beside you I’ll stand through the good and the bad, we’ll give all that we have and we’ll build this love from the ground up…” it’s the perfect love story that I see being played at many future weddings. Dan+Shay are bound to have their next No. 1 with this powerful song.
