Dierks Bentley’s Number 1 album Riser has yielded two chart-topping hits, “Drunk on a Plane” and “Say You Do,” so a third must be on the horizon, right? We certainly hope so; especially after Dierks’ moving ACM Awards performance last Sunday night.
Dierks sang the title track off his hit album Riser at the awards show, silencing the crowd and sharing an inspirational message of standing up after you’ve been knocked down, only to rise again. Appropriately poised on top of a riser, Dierks sang the words of the moving track and explained that he is a selfless survivor who won’t only lift himself up, but will do the same for others.
The chorus goes:
I’m a riser. I’m a get up off the ground, don’t run and hider. Pushing comes a-shovin’, hey I’m a fighter. When darkness comes to town, I’m a lighter, a get out aliver, out of the fire, survivor.
“Riser” was written by Travis Meadows (Jake Owen, Eric Church) and is a slow tempo song that is the perfect candidate to round out a trifecta of chart-topping singles off Dierks’ latest album, spreading a feeling of hope and a motivational mantra to find one’s sense of inner strength and resilience. After hearing Dierks perform it at the ACM Awards, complete with raw emotion and a live crowd response, it seems like the perfect selection for the third release off the album.
