Dolly Parton has had one of the most celebrated careers in country music with five decades of hits, critically acclaimed acting roles, and a place in the Country Music Hall of Fame. For most artists at this stage, it might be time to relax for a while or even call it a day and retire.
But not Dolly. And today she continues to add new accomplishments to her long list.
Her new album Blue Smoke hit #1 on the New Zealand “all-genre” album charts and has sit on top of the Australian Country charts for four straight weeks. The album has also made it to #7 on Australia’s “all-genre” chart.
Dolly is on full speed ahead promoting Blue Smoke with a tour of Europe this summer, including an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival. U.S. fans will get their hands on the album on May 13 of this year, and most likely there be some American dates to follow.
So let’s look at the scorecard: The most #1 hits on the Billboard Country Charts for a female artist, two Oscar nominations for Best Original song, over 100 million records sold, Country Music Hall of Fame induction, and now hitting new milestones internationally.
This May will be a big month for Dolly, Blue Smoke Worldwide and she’ll kick off the U.S. leg of her Tour. Stay to this website for a review….and possibly a #CMchat Twitterview. *fingers crossed* Hey it never hurts to ask.
I say: Long live the Country Queen!
