[email protected] & @BradPaisley Release “Rockin’ Down the Highway” Lyric Video (Watch!)

Recent Country Music #CMchat Twitterview guests, The Doobie Brothers, released their new album Southbound earlier this week. Included on the album is a collaboration with Brad Paisley of The Doobie Brothers’ 1972 hit song “Rockin’ Down the Highway.”

“Rockin’ Down the Highway” gone Nashville puts a fun twist on the 1970s classic rock song, incorporating the talents of a country superstar (and part time comedian, as made evident by his yearly hosting of the CMA Awards). Paisley joins The Doobie Brothers in the second verse, applying his twangy vocals to this hard hitting tune. The partnership of the Doobies and Paisley, as well as the choice in songs to cover for this duet, is unparalleled, as the acts mesh together in a perfect fit.

To further promote the release of Southbound and the combination of The Doobie Brothers and Brad Paisley, they released a fun-loving and spectacular lyric video (created by Polly Burokas) to accompany their song. Watch the video here:

Got those highway blues, can’t you hear my motor runnin’?
Flyin’ down the road with my foot on the floor
All the way in town they can hear me comin’
Ford’s about to drop, she won’t do no more

And I smell my motor burnin’
Underneath the hood is smoke
Can’t stop, and I can’t stop
Got to keep movin’ on or I’ll lose my mind

Oh, rockin’ down the highway
Oh, rockin’ down the highway
Oh, rockin’ down the highway
Oh, rockin’ down the highway

The highway patrol got his eyes on me
I know what he’s thinkin’ and it ain’t good
I’m movin’ so fast he can barely see me
Gonna lose that man, I know I should

I gotta kick in my pedal
Make my ford move a little bit faster
Can’t stop, and I can’t stop
Got to keep movin’ on or I’ll lose my mind

Oh, rockin’ down the highway
Oh, rockin’ down the highway
Good you know that
Oh, rockin’ down the highway
Oh, rockin’ down the highway

Oh, rockin’ down the highway
Oh, rockin’ down the highway
Oh, rockin’ down the highway
Oh, rockin’ down the highway
