Single Review: Eli Young – Saltwater Gospel

Grammy nominated country music group Eli Young Band recently released their new single “Saltwater Gospel” on Valory Music Co. The song is the first single from their forthcoming album that is currently in the works. Written by Nicolle Galyon and Ashley Gorley, “Saltwater Gospel” defines summer anthems. Although the song is nothing like their last three No. 1 hits, it is sure to be a fan-favorite.

A beachy tune that catches your ear, “Saltwater Gospel” is an enjoyable song with a bright melody and strong instrumentation. While primarily focusing on a vacation storyline, the authentic and purposeful lyrics also reference how being by the water makes them feel closer to God. “When I go down and sink my feet in the water and I soak up that sun and I watch it set. Yeah, I can feel the power of the saltwater Gospel, I’m as close to God as I can get” showcases an appreciation for one of God’s most beautiful creations. It’s a nice touch to an otherwise breezy summertime song.

“Saltwater Gospel” has potential to be Eli Young Band’s next No. 1 song. It’s catchy, has a strong message and will be welcomed on country radio. A soulful little hymn that listeners are bound to enjoy, “Saltwater Gospel” just might be the song of the summer.
