Sunday, Eric Church spent some time with CBS This Morning reporter Mark Strassmann in a fabulous piece in preparation for Eric’s highly anticipated album, The Outsiders, which was released today. They talked about how from the very beginning Eric stood out. He didn’t play to “soccer moms”. He wrote songs that appealed to guys and specifically partiers. He was different….and it worked. He takes full ownership, and no apologies really, for getting fired from the Rascal Flatts tour. He knew it was coming, knew he deserved it and didn’t seem to phase him too much. He talks about his beautiful home in the mountains where he goes to retreat, and to write. It was there he wrote an astounding 121 songs in a month, 12 of which made the cut for The Outsiders.
CBS This Morning did a wonderful job giving the world a heartfelt but deeper look at country music’s outsider. If you missed any of the interview, check it out here.
