Eric Church’s “Talladega,” an emotionally-driven ballad about spending time at the Alabama renowned racetrack with a lost loved one, has finally lapped the competition, surpassing all others and claiming the coveted checkered flag of the Billboard charts. A song that has won the hearts of many, including our Country Music #CMchat team, “Talladega” is deservingly at Number 1 on both the Billboard and Mediabase charts this week.
“Talladega” marks the second of Church’s Number 1 hits off his Grammy-nominated album The Outsiders, joining the ranks with his previous single “Give Me Back My Hometown.” The chart-topping honors come to Church almost exactly one year since the release of the album, which celebrates its anniversary on February 11th.
The rise to Number 1 also comes on the heels of Church’s Nashville record-breaking concert at Bridgestone Arena, which brought in over 18,000 fans for a one-night event, and while The Outsiders World Tour is still making its rounds and is expected to continue making history.
Congratulations to Eric Church on his latest feat. It certainly comes as no surprise that one of the best songs that has been released … ever … would find its way to the top spot of the charts; in fact, the biggest surprise of all is that it took this long to get there.
