[email protected] Joins the 2014 Ranks with “The Outsiders”

It was only ten days ago when we reported that Jason Aldean’s Old Boots, New Dirt album was the only country album to be certified by the RIAA as platinum in 2014. Little did anyone know at the time, Eric Church was creepin’ his way to that status as well with his Grammy-nominated disc, The Outsiders.

News recently broke that Church has joined the ranks in 2014, becoming the fourth artist to officially have an album certified for an impressive one million units shipped (not sold). That means that one-half of the platinum albums this year belong to country music.

Church and fans certainly rallied to close 2014 out in a big way, ensuring that The Outsiders was very much on the inside. It should come as no surprise following the American Country Countdown Awards that Church would put a lot of emphasis on the value of an album, as he firmly noted that “albums matter more now than ever” during his acceptance speech for Album of the Year.

Congratulations to Eric Church on joining the 2014 ranks for most shipped albums. You are making country music proud!
