There is no doubt that mainstream country music has been dynamically changing its sound since the beginning part of 2013. But now it looks as though country radio isn’t the only one taking on this newer sound. Country music tours could be getting a performance face lift — well, one in particular at least.
The biggest duo in country music Florida Georgia Line announced plans for a summer tour, a tour that will feature opening act Chris Lane and St. Louis rapper Nelly. Say what?! Yeah, you totally read that right.
This Is How We Roll Summer Series 2014 Tour
May 30 – Springdale, Ark. – Arvest Ballpark
May 31 – Pearl, Miss. – Trustmark Park
June 1 – TBA
June 12 – Charleston, S.C. – Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park
June 13 – Augusta, Ga. – Lake Olmstead Stadium
June 14 – TBA
June 19 – Ft. Wayne, Ind. – Parkview Field
June 20 – Bowling Green, Ky. – Bowling Green Ballpark
June 22 – Asheville, N.C. – McCormick Field
It may seem weird to have any rapper on any country tour, but Nelly, I think, will be a nice fit for FGL’s audience. On a sidenote: I don’t know about you, but I hope this reignites Nelly’s career.
