On Thursday, January 8th, Garth Brooks made history when he joined NBC’s The Today Show as a guest host and musical performer, accompanying the anchors of the morning news series for the entire four-hour period. During the show, it only made sense to have a little fun with this Man Against Machine and find out if he could dance The Dance they would throw at him while he was pulling his double duty.
Before beginning, Garth paid his respects to Grand Ole Opry legend, Little Jimmy Dickens, recognizing that his funeral was taking place in Nashville during the time of the show.
Right now, Nashville is celebrating the life and times of Little Jimmy Dickens, so they’re all gathering around. We lost a hero and a legend but, like Elvis, they live forever. When you talk about All About Country, nobody better than him to dedicate to. He’d love this.
Jessica from Sirius XM’s The Highway then made a guest appearance as a pseudo game show host, asking country music related questions to Garth as he battled Today Show co-host, Hoda Kotb, a self-proclaimed country lover. Who was the youngest to win a Grammy? In what movie did Tim McGraw play opposite Sandra Bullock? Who was the first female to sell one million copies of her debut album? Who is Miley Cyrus’s Godmother? The final score was 2-1, but we aren’t going to reveal who came out on top at this Rodeo.
Why did Garth go to bed without dinner that night? Did he win the competition? Find out by watching the video below!
