It is with great pleasure that I am able to bring y’all the first edition of #CMchat’s newest feature, #DigitalDuel. Every week we will be featuring two songs for you to vote on. The songs might be related, might be different covers, or have no relation at all. Once they’re posted, it’s up to you – the fans – to spread the word and hash it out to win the #DigitalDuel. Simple enough? Here’s your first challenge:
Garth Brooks “People Loving People” vs. Trisha Yearwood feat. Kelly Clarkson “PrizeFighter”
Garth Brooks is back! When he released “More Than a Memory” back in 2007, it instantly became a hit. For his latest single, “People Loving People,” he enlisted some well-known songwriters – busbee (“Storm Warning,” “Summer Nights”), Lee Thomas Miller (“You’re Gonna Miss This,” “In Color”) and Chris Wallin (“Don’t Blink,” “Something To Be Proud Of”). “People Loving People” will be on Garth’s next studio project expected to be released around Black Friday.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard Trisha Yearwood on the radio. Last week, #CMchat’s Nicole Piering reviewed “PrizeFighter” and said “[Trisha’s] voice is pristine, effortlessly careening over a mid-tempo pop country ballad.” We can’t forget about Kelly Clarkson adding her own spin to the song as well. Between these two power houses, I don’t know who won’t get their socks knocked off by this song.
Now the ball’s in your court. Garth and Trisha are currently sharing the stage on a world tour. They’ve been joining forces for “PrizeFighter” live, but people are loving “People Loving People. Who will be crowned the winner in this not-so-newlywed battle? Vote for your pick in this digital duel and don’t forget to request them at country radio.
