Getting to Know Newcomer Taylor Acorn

Taylor Acorn is completely new to the country music scene, but you wouldn’t be able to tell after you listen to her sing a few bars. Originally from Virginia, Taylor Acorn knew that country music was her dream. While going to college in Pennsylvania, she would spend all of her time writing, singing, or making YouTube videos. Already accumulating 1.5 million streams on Pandora and opening for some of the hottest stars in country music, I’d say Taylor Acorn is country music’s new big thing.

How did you start in country music?

I think I just had always grown up around it. When I was a kid it was always playing in the car and at home. Naturally, I had already taken a liking to it. As I got older when I started to focus more on playing music and I realized that my vocals fit best with country music. From there I just kinda found myself doing that.

If someone wrote a song about your life, what would it be called?

Probably “Hot Mess” because my life is crazy! I mean aside from music, I am just one of those people that just go with the flow. I wake up and I just really don’t know what I’m going to do that day. My life is just crazy! We’re working on it though *laughs

What has been your biggest break thus far in your career?

I think it all just started when I got my songs out there and meeting my manager, Cade. Since then I’ve gotten to open up for some really cool people. I opened for Chase Bryant, which is something I could’ve only dreamed of. I was traveling and going to Nashville- things that I’ve never done before.

Describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard you play.

I like to say it’s different than pop/country crossover. I listen to so many different things and I want my sound to be organic. I want it to have an effect on people that a lot of the other songs you may hear don’t. I just want it to be raw and it’s a little country/pop with some alternative in there. I can’t pin one style or genre on it because I want it to be me.

How can fans keep up with you?

I believe in the power of music and the magic of words. US Army Soldier. Ohio raised, but my heart's in Nashville. Reba McEntire brought me to country music and it's where I found my passion.
