Catching up with @GwenSebastian

Gwen Sebastian was eliminated from The Voice right before the live round but gained so much more from time on the show. Just days after her elimination she got the call many artists dream of. Her coach, Blake Shelton, asked her to join him on tour.

CMchat talked to Gwen about her life and what is on the horizon for her now.

Blake Shelton….Gwen speaks so highly of her mentor. “I owe so much to him. Its because of  Blake that I am able to share the stage with so many artists. Blake is understanding when I have my own shows and supports me in every way.” She states that being in Blake’s band has been a learning experience. She sits back and take pointers from him…not just his music but his life. His ability to reach people is unparalleled.

Wedding.…Just last month dressed in a beautiful white gown accessorized with bright red shoes, Gwen married her longtime sweetheart, Louis Newman. She dated Louis, her drummer, for 10 years before saying  “I do”. She said the most memorable part of the day was when she walked down the aisle. She didn’t think it would be so overwhelming because they dated for so long. However, she was in awe watching all of their friends and family that were there to honor the couple. She goes on to say she was forever changed the moment they exchanged their vows.

Food…Gwen loves food. She really really loves food. If her singing career didn’t take off she was planning to be a chef. Even though food is a slight obsession for her she balances it by working out a lot and never depriving herself of anything.

Holidays….Gwen kicked off the holiday season performing in Gaylord Oprylands new Christmas show “A Not So Silent Night”. She plans to celebrate Christmas with family, first flying back to her home town in North Dakota for awhile and then on to Wisconsin to spend time with her brother.

Favorite song of hers……”When Im Gone”, cowritten with Brian Eckert and Dean Miller, is special to her. She came up with the concept while looking at the vast land that was passed down from her great grandfather. The song is relatable as it leaves you questioning what legacy you will leave.

Gwen’s motto “Don’t settle” guides her daily. She is not afraid to take risks and works very hard constantly reinventing herself.  She has a spunky but loving personality that comes through in her music. That coupled with her unique sound makes her a stand out. It looks like Blake got this one right as fans aren’t eliminating her either. This North Dakota farm girl is here to stay.
