Haley and Michaels “Drinking About You”

Shannon Haley and Ryan Michaels are a duo still relatively new to the country music landscape but they are a powerhouse of story-telling ability. Originally both from California, the pair met in Nashville and that’s where the magic began. Their song “Giving It All (To You)” has been a huge hit with country music fans for its sentimental value and now they’re back with a brand new single to show they’re capable of even more depth and relatability.

In the first ten seconds of “Drinking About You”, you get the impression this song is going to be moody, edgy, and maybe a little dark. Just like Haley and Michaels giving life to its lyrics, it’s country but with an evident rock flair.

The first line of lyrics leads you to think about a topic many have talked about but never in this way – an alcohol infused evening out and what may or may not have occurred after leaving the bar.

What really captures my attention with this duo is how they can sound equally as impressive whether they’re singing individually or together. In “Drinking About You”, Haley & Michaels trade lines throughout the verses highlighting their incredible individual talents, while joining forces in the chorus to punctuate the desperate power found in the message of this song. If you’ve ever had “a shot of Jack that you can’t take back” or one of those moments where you just can’t stop thinking about someone, this song is for you.

If you’re active on social media, make sure you request this song to SiriusXM’s country station, The Highway, where it recently started playing as the YouTube Country Spotlight song during the #OnTheHorizon segment.
