Jason Aldean is a member of the few, the proud, the RIAA platinum selling artists of 2014. With his newest offering Old Boots, New Dirt, the man who burned it up all year with a smash hit single, “Burnin’ It Down,” and a sellout tour, The Burnin’ It Down Tour, has smoked his musical competition in album sales for the year.
With the end of the year just weeks away, the final reports are flowing in and the results show only three albums released in 2014 that achieved platinum certification from the RIAA. The albums include Old Boots, New Dirt; Taylor Swift’s 1989; and Ariana Grande’s My Everything.
Jason’s album debuted at the top of the Billboard Top 200 chart in October, selling over 278,000 units, and, has ultimately, shipped the necessary one million copies of the album to be recognized by the RIAA was platinum. On receiving the news about his achievement, Jason said:
We put so much time and passion into choosing the best songs for this album, and this brings a lot of hard work full circle for me. It’s like Christmas came early! I couldn’t do it without the best country music fans in the world, who never stop believing in what I do and always follow me, even if I may take a creative left turn every now and then.
Congratulations to Jason Aldean on representing country as a top selling artist of the year!
