“One day at a meeting with CMT, someone gave me some great advice and said if I wanted to give it a real shot, I needed to be in Nashville permanently. I took their advice, packed up my bags, said goodbye to Texas, and found an apartment in Nashville.” And with that advice, Jenna Jentry turned the page on what was once a dream of carving out a place for herself in country music and made it a reality. With a deep passion for singing and writing in her heart and her eyes focused on big things in the future, Jenna has no intentions of slowing down.
Born and raised in the outskirts of Dallas, Texas, Jentry can’t look back far enough to remember a time when she wasn’t writing. After having her first poem published at just the young age of 5, it’s no surprise that her knack for writing spilled over into her love of making country music. In high school, Jenna picked up a guitar, taught herself some chords, began writing some songs and, from there, never looked back. Her new profound interest overcame her in college as she would attend classes in the morning and rush to the recording studio during the evening to record demos. After college, Jenna recorded her first independent album, Good as Gold, which she immediately began promoting in Nashville and the Dallas area and ultimately led to a national radio tour where she would debut her first single “Lovin’ Lazy”.
Jenna would later set up shop permanently in Nashville and it didn’t take long for her to begin making big strides. She’s already opened up for major country stars such as The Band Perry, Scotty McCreery, Travis Tritt and Jo Dee Messina. But perhaps the most notable of events on her rise to fame is while promoting her new album and “Lovin’ Lazy” last year, distribution company Sony/RED took notice and it wasn’t long after that that Jenna began working with Grammy award-winning artist Gretchen Wilson on her debut self-titled EP. Blown away by the talent of Jenna, Wilson elected to co-write, record and produce Jentry’s upcoming EP which is set to be released on October 14.
“I’ve spent the past two years completely submersed in Nashville writing and growing as an artist. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by talented and influential people in the industry, like Gretchen Wilson, and I absorbed all the knowledge I possibly could from them. I’m really proud of the four songs that made the EP, some brand new and some re-produced, and I think my fans that have grown with me along this journey will really connect with them as well,” Jenna says.
We can’t wait to hear what the new self-titled EP has in store for our ears. Check out Jenna Jentry’s single, “Lovin’ Lazy”, below and tell us what you think!
