New York native Jessica Lynn has had one heck of a year and has no plans to slow down any time soon. She has had two full length television specials, performed the National Anthem twice in Madison Square Garden, signed a publishing deal with Round Hill Music and toured with country music icon Jo Dee Messina. Lynn is beautiful, talented and driven. She has an authentic country sound but still broad enough for country radio. Her sturdy vocals and brilliant songwriting blend together to create a rising star. If Shania Twain and Kacey Musgraves had a baby, her name would be Jessica Lynn.
Where are you answering these questions from and what are you wearing?
I am answering these questions while in the beautiful Manoir le Louis XXI in Cambrai on tour in France!
What is your favorite thing about what you do?
My favorite part of playing music is that you meet so many incredible people while touring. Seeing how your songs can touch someone you have never met is really a special feeling.
What are three things you CANNOT live without?
Coffee, because I am always on the run. My guitar. And my iPhone because I am constantly communicating with friends and fans on social media. (Yes. That’s me that answers all of my messages and comments on my page!)
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
Plan my day. I am always so busy so I spend a few minutes in the morning organizing everything I have to do.
What’s your favorite cartoon character?
Jessica Rabbit! She is so glamorous.
Are you a morning person or a night person?
Night. Definitely. I hate going to sleep. I can stay up so late and still function the next day.
Sweet or sour?
Sweet! I have a total sweet tooth and would probably live on chocolate lava cakes if it was possible.
Naughty or nice?
Nice. Always. I’m a big believer in treating people how you would like to be treated. “Always stay humble and kind.”
Snowy mountains or sandy beaches?
Sandy beaches. I HATE the cold. I’m always freezing.
If you could choose your age forever, what age would you want to be?
I loved being 22. That was a special age for me because it’s when I started my career. Your early 20s is where you really begin your life and it’s an exciting time!
What’s your favorite food?
My favorite food is an everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese.
What’s one gift you will never forget?
Before my very first tour, one of my best friends Jenn gave me an Alex and Ani bracelet with a cowboy boot charm on it for good luck. I think it has definitely blessed my journey.
What current event has your eyes and ears and what are you doing about it?
I am extremely supportive of our men and women overseas and our veterans. I am the ambassador for the organization Hearts 4 Heroes which helps veterans with PTSD through canine and equine therapy, and I work with United for the Troops which sends care packages overseas to our soldiers.
Would you rather be the most popular or the smartest person in the world?
I would rather be the most popular. Love and relationships are everything. Being smart or possessing money or certain qualities mean nothing if you have no one to share it with.
Would you rather have the gift to see the future or change the past?
I would like to see the future. You would never need to change the past if you could see it happen first and make the choices you’d be happy with in the end.
What television show could you fall asleep to every night?
I am obsessed with The Walking Dead. I can’t get enough of that show and the characters. I want to be on it. (laughs)
Name one artist of any genre (besides country) that you are a fan of?
I am a huge fan of Neil Diamond. I think he’s an incredible singer and songwriter and I grew up listening to his music and studying how he could so effortlessly tell a story through his lyrics.
What makes you laugh out loud?
The shenanigans that my band and I pull out on the road make me laugh out loud. We prank and tease each other so much and always have such a great time.
Fill in the blank: It’s not a party until…
…country music is on the radio.
Fill in the blank: Country music has made me…
…able to see the entire country. I feel so blessed that I am able to do what I love and have such an incredible time doing it! Country music has changed my life forever.
