MORE ABOUT JESSIE JAMES DECKER
Jessica Rose James Decker, better known as Jessie, began working toward her country music career as a child. By the time she was fifteen, Jessie was ready to hit the ground running and make her dreams a reality. While Jessie was working with Carla Wallace of Big Yellow Dog Music, one of her songs attracted the attention of Mercury Records. She later signed a record deal with Mercury and released her debut album, Jessie James, in 2009. Jessie James peaked at Number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart and yielded a top 40 hit. Following the release of her debut offering, Jessie traveled overseas with Kid Rock and Carlos Mencia to perform for the troops — an experience that Jessie calls the most rewarding moment of her career. In my April 2014 interview with this multitalented entertainer, Jessie explained “That was so special to me and something I will never forget. I mean, that was such an incredible experience to be able to perform for our guys over there and see what they’re doing for us. It’s just amazing.” During the making of her sophomore album, Jessie’s label began to push her more toward a pop track and away from where Jessie’s heart had always been — country music. Staying true to herself, Jessie opted to part ways with Mercury while in the midst of preparing for her record. It was then that Jessie was truly able to enter the country music industry, as she was introduced to Mark Wright from Show Dog-Universal Music and her single “Boys in the Summer” was released. After a few years and a few released singles with Show Dog, Jessie left the label and focused more on her family. She went on to star in the E! reality show Eric & Jessie: Game On with her husband, Eric Decker of the New York Jets. In the wake of the show’s success, Jessie released an EP through iTunes on 19 Recordings entitled Comin’ Home. She can now be found on CMT’s new show, Red Neck Island, hosting alongside Steve “Stone Cold” Austin.
