[email protected] Releases New Single #HesMessedUp to @SXMTheHighway

Platinum-selling artist, Grammy nominee, and upcoming Country Music #CMchat guest (11/17), Jo Dee Messina, has released her third single off her most recent and personal album, Me. Other than the fact that He’s Messed Up” is just one more perfect example of Jo Dee’s vocal prowess, it is a unique song for a very special reason — Jo Dee‘s fans were involved in the recording of this track.

During the fun and catchy chorus, listeners can distinctly hear background responses to the lyrics, as well as rhythmic clapping. The voices and hands you hear belong to fans who donated to the Kickstarter project which Jo Dee launched to produce Me.

The message in this song is that, no matter how much you wish someone will change for you, it is inevitable that the person will always remain the same. Jo Dee encourages those who have had the lingering thought of “he will change for me” to put on their walking boots because, to put it simply, “he’s messed up.”

Since you can now start hearing this track on the radio, buckle your seatbelts and be aware of your surroundings while you drive, as you will, perhaps unintentionally as a natural reaction, find yourself bopping your head side to side and/or up and down. To best describe the distinguished melody of the song, it is reminiscent of No Doubt … if Gwen Stefani suddenly acquired a twang. The highlight of this track, other than the cameo by supportive fans, comes early in the second verse when Jo Dee, quite simply, calls a spade a spade:

Look in his eyes, you get caught in all the bull$&!+ and the lies, can be cruel, ’cause he doesn’t play by anybody’s rules. Yeah, well he’ll take, never give, ’cause it’s all about him.

This song speaks to a woman scorned and can serve as an eye-opener to anyone stuck in a less-than-positive relationship with a narcissistic and disrespectful man. You know how it goes, ladies. Sometimes it takes that outsider to peek inside and share his/her perspective for you to see the light. We’ve all been there. Luckily for us, our reality check is now just a few clicks and/or a radio spin away because we have Jo Dee Messina to sing some sense into us with “He’s Messed Up.”

Catch “He’s Messed Up” on SiriusXM The Highway this weekend at the following times (Eastern timezone): Saturday: 12pm, 7pm, and 11pm; Sunday: 4am, 8am, 12pm, 4pm, and 8pm.

And, make sure to join us on Twitter on November 17th at 6pmPT/9pmET for a Twitterview with the one and only Jo Dee Messina!
