Jo Dee Messina has a lot to celebrate this Mother’s Day weekend. Not only is she performing at Nashville’s City Winery for a special show on Sunday night, one at which her mother will be present, but she is experiencing an honor that is new to this Grammy-nominated artist.
Jo Dee Messina already has the following credits to her name: singer, songwriter, platinum-selling artist, and Grammy nominee. Now, one of Country Music #CMchat’s favorite legends can add New York Times Best-Selling Author to her list of achievements.
Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom was co-written by Jo Dee and publisher, Amy Newmark, and, as of recently, the book is a bonafide best-seller. In response to this author-related top honor, Jo Dee stated:
People say blessings come that you never even imagine, and (being on the best-seller list) is one of them. Wow.
The book, which Jo Dee describes as “101 different stories of gratitude, love and lessons that we learn from our mom. And the whole thing comes from a perspective of gratitude,” will be on sale this Sunday at her special City Winery show. During the concert, Jo Dee promises to share stories about her life, her songs, and her very own mother. Included in her anticipated set list will be her hit songs so she can avoid any repercussions from her fans.
Fans can also expect to hear new live music, as Jo Dee explained:
These are songs people haven’t heard me sing and stories that people have not heard me tell because I don’t have the ability to do that in a normal show. This show is like storyteller, music, everything combined.
For fans who buy a copy of the book that night, Jo Dee will be on hand to autograph the purchases. Doors will open at 5pCT with the show beginning at 7pCT. Tickets are still available at City Winery’s website for costs ranging from $45 to $65.
