John Rich is definitely someone you’d call an entrepreneur. The man has his hand in just about anything imaginable. He’s been on reality TV shows (most notably winning Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” back in 2011), he makes up one half of country duo Big & Rich, recently launched a new label Big & Rich Records, has written some amazing hit songs for many country music stars. Now, JR is adding a new business venture to his already outstanding resume — a lifestyle brand called Redneck Riviera which launched yesterday (March 18) in Panama City, FL.
The Redneck Riviera lifestyle which began on the Gulf Coast of the Florida Panhandle, Rich explains, “The phrase Redneck Riviera has been around since the Sixties and a generation of Americans has grown up with it. They know what it is, where it is and what it feels like.”
John has teamed up with Delta Apparel and To The Game to create graphic T-shirts, tank tops and headwear that displays catchprases like “Blue Water, White Sand and Redneck” and “Weekend Warrior”. The brand will also sell accessories like decals, license plates and koozies, as well as, rolling out a clothing lin for youth in the future. Another team member will be Earthbound which is a brand management and licensing company.
“Redneck Riviera embodies college football, spring break, country music, Southern hospitality,” said Milin Shah, the head of business development and licensing for Earthbound.
Although the brand will target the Gulf Coast’s young, wild and party crowd, JR believes the brand will prosper and spread. “What encapsulates the brand is fun. It’s outgrown a geographical region and place. Where is Margaritaville — anywhere where you can sip a piña colada and sit in the sun. This is the rowdy, rural version of that.”
Perhaps the best part about this brand is the very affordable prices as the apparel is set to retail between $20-$25. Starting out, items will only be offered online before hitting sporting goods and other retailers in spring 2015.
During the press conference, John said “After seeing so many people enjoying the laid-back, carefree beach lifestyle of the ‘Redneck Riviera,’ I realized it is not just a place. It’s a state of mind that can be found coast to coast and every land-locked town in between. My main goal is to make sure this product lives up to the lifestyle.”
