Joshua Scott Jones and Meghan Linsey who make up the powerful duo, Steel Magnolia, announced last year that they would be embarking on solo tours in 2014. Their personal relationship ended awhile back but they continued to make strong lyrical music together…in fact, the turmoil likely lended itself to deeper emotion heard throughout their songs. They plan to play a handful of shows together but will focus on their solo acts primarily.
Right out the gate Joshua Scott Jones released the first single off his new album today. Honk if You’re Tonky is a catchy tune with quotable lyrics and a strong hook. I imagine it will be as entertaining to perform live as it will be for fans to sing along. The song was cowriten by Josh Alford and produced in Nashville. It will be released to radio on SIRIUS XM’s The Highway this Saturday January 11, 2014.
The full album, titled “The Healing”, will be released later this year. As implied by the name its said to be a very personal and emotional portrayal of the singers journey. He’s been through a lot of ups and downs over the last few years and is using music as a release. His lyrics are typically written with an interesting depth that gives a unique identity to his songs. Im sure The Healing is no exception.
You can get a sneak preview on soundcloud of “Honk If Your Tonky” or by right here on itunes.
