While she’s hanging out in the same trailer, different park, it appears that Grammy Award winning artist, Kacey Musgraves, is thinking about a nice big basket of biscuits — and minding her own.
The song “Biscuits,” which Kacey announced as her new single, follows her arrow and reminds people to, likewise, follow theirs. In typical Kacey fashion, which is anything but typical, she urges listeners to worry about themselves, mind their own business, focus on the person standing in front of them in the mirror, and everything will be just fine. As Kacey musically (and eloquently) points out, we all have dirty laundry to air, so rather than judge others for their mistakes, learn from yours. Or, as the chorus puts it “mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy.”
The bridge reminds people, in only the way Kacey Musgraves can, that putting out others’ lights won’t make your own shine any brighter:
Pouring salt in my sugar won’t make yours any sweeter; pissing in my yard ain’t gonna make yours any greener. And I wouldn’t know about the rocks in your shoes, so I’ll just do me, honey, you can just do you.
“Biscuits” is another simplistic tune from Kacey, relying on acoustic guitars and her God-given gorgeous vocals to share the message of staying out of other people’s drama. However, leave it to Kacey to deliver that lesson in the most unique and metaphorically sound way possible.
Love her or hate her, they don’t get more witty and creative than Kacey Musgraves; and I assure you … regardless of how you feel about what Kacey is doing, everything for her is just gravy. Kacey will begin serving her “Biscuits” to radio stations on March 16th, while iTunes will deliver the song on March 17th.
